Thomas Frank has made it clear that Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven is going nowhere, as he is an important player for the club.
The Dutch defender joined Spurs from Wolfsburg in August 2023 in a £43m deal and has quickly established himself as one of Tottenham's main players.
The centre-back has three-and-a-half years left on his current contract, which expires in the summer of 2029, but Spurs are reportedly planning to offer him a new deal.
Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly showing interest in the Dutchman, and Spurs are said to be demanding £100m for the defender.
As of now, no formal talks have started yet on his potential new contract, and it has been reported that the 24-year-old is pushing for a summer move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Thomas Frank addresses Micky van de Ven rumours
The Spurs boss has quashed such rumours, saying that Van de Ven has been "excellent" since his arrival and is important to this club now and for the future.
"Micky's an excellent player; he's a fantastic ambassador for this club," said Frank, as quoted by Sky Sports News.
"He's having potentially his best season so far. He's fit, he's strong, good defensively, he's growing as a leader, scoring goals as well, and he's a very important player for us this season and for the future."
Van de Ven made a massive contribution last season, as his acrobatic goal-line clearance helped Spurs beat Man Utd 1-0 to lift the Europa League.
The Dutch international is enjoying an injury-free 2025-26 season, scoring six goals in 29 appearances across all competitions in what is arguably his best campaign yet for Spurs.
Busy transfer window for Spurs?
Tottenham have sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace and signed Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid this month, and there could be more ins and outs.
Mathys Tel suffered a major blow after being omitted from Tottenham's Champions League squad, and he is reportedly wanted by a host of clubs, including Paris FC.
Spurs are also looking to add a new winger to their ranks before the end of the window, and have been linked with a move for West Ham's Crysencio Summerville.
Meanwhile, Van de Ven will return for Saturday's Premier League trip to Burnley after he missed out on the Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund through suspension.
