Transfer news and rumours: Rangers 'pushing for MLS star, Hull 'agree' £13m deal

Rangers reportedly have plans to step up their interest in Portland Timbers attacker Kevin Kelsy.

After a poor start to the domestic campaign and reaching the League Phase of the Conference League very much in the balance, Derek McInnes is coming under early pressure at Ibrox.

Despite 11 signings having already been made, Rangers remain in the market for fresh faces, particularly in the final third after a long-term injury to Youssef Chermiti.

According to Football Insider, Kelsy is high on Rangers' list of priorities for the closing nine days of the summer transfer window.

The same outlet claims that Rangers have already failed with a £7.4m offer, while it is unclear whether Kelsy will entertain a transfer to Scotland.

Kelsy, who is 22 years of age, has racked up 19 goals and five assists from 63 appearances for Portland Timbers, while he has 22 goals from 75 MLS outings during his career.

He spent time with Shakhtar Donetsk earlier in his career, chipping in with nine goals and three assists from 37 matches before making the switch to FC Cincinnati in 2024.

Hull closing on Nice winger

In the Premier League, newcomers Hull City are close to finalising the signing of Nice winger Mohamed Ali-Cho.

The Tigers showed their credentials on Saturday as they recorded a deserved 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League.

However, head coach Sergej Jakirovic remains in the market for fresh additions in a bid to give Hull the best chance of remaining in England's top flight.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Hull have reached a 'verbal agreement' to bring Ali-Cho to the MKM Stadium.

A £13m fee is said to have been agreed with the Ligue 1 outfit, while Hull will pay significant add-ons if they avoid relegation.

Since his arrival at Allianz Riviera in January 2024, the 22-year-old has contributed 12 goals and 13 assists from 93 appearances.

Ali-Cho was previously at Real Sociedad, and he has already made 152 outings in La Liga and France's top flight at this stage of his career.

Man United youngster moves to Hibs

Meanwhile, Manchester United have allowed Jacob Devaney to join Hibernian.

Although the 19-year-old was captain of Man United's Under-21s last season, he has never been selected for the first-team squad for a competitive game.

He made 18 appearances during a loan stint with St Mirren during the second half of 2025-26, providing him with much-needed senior game time.

Man United have now accepted an offer from Hibs, who hold the option of pushing through a permanent transfer after an initial loan.

Hibs have made their move after the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international featured for Man United on two occasions during pre-season, including against Rosenborg in a game which he scored.

Across games for Man United's Under-18s, Under-19s and Under-21s, Devaney featured on 87 occasions and contributed three goals and nine assists.
