Wednesday's Ligue 1 predictions including Angers vs. PSG

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Ligue 1 fixtures, including Angers vs. PSG.

Bordeaux vs. St Etienne (Wednesday, 6.00pm)

Reims manager David Guion pictured in October 2020© Reuters

Bordeaux play host to Saint-Etienne on Wednesday evening looking to close the gap to one point to their opponents, who sit just above the relegation zone in the Ligue 1 standings.

However, depending on how other results go, Saint-Etienne could move four points clear of safety, the game at Stade Matmut-Atlantique having the potential to be pivotal in the context of the season.

We say: Bordeaux 1-1 Saint-Etienne

While Bordeaux know the importance of winning this fixture, they will also recognise that it is a must-not-lose. The same can be said of Saint-Etienne, and it would come as no surprise to anyone if this fixture ended in a low-scoring draw.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Lorient vs. Metz (Wednesday, 6.00pm)

Lorient manager Christophe Pelissier pictured in December 2020© Reuters

Lorient head into Wednesday's Ligue 1 encounter with Metz knowing that they can take a huge stride towards survival with victory at Stade du Moustoir.

However, the gap between 16th-placed Lorient and bottom side Metz is just seven points, handing the visitors an opportunity to get back into the mix to retain their Ligue 1 status.

We say: Lorient 1-1 Metz

A home game against the division's bottom-placed side is as ideal as it gets for Lorient in their efforts to pull clear of the relegation zone. However, they face a Metz outfit who have their backs against the wall, and we think that the visitors will do enough to earn a point.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Monaco vs. Nice (Wednesday, 6.00pm)

Monaco and Nice square off at Stade Louis II on Wednesday evening knowing that victory will take either side a step closer to earning European football next season.

As it stands, fourth-placed Nice hold a one-point lead over their opponents who sit in sixth position in the Ligue 1 standings, and both clubs are still in contention for second after Marseille's defeat at Paris Saint-Germain at the weekend.

We say: Monaco 2-1 Nice

Having rediscovered their winning touch at the weekend, Nice will be confident of earning at least a share of the spoils from what feels like a pivotal match in their campaign. Nevertheless, we cannot ignore Monaco's recent upturn in form, and we think that the home side will edge a highly-competitive contest by the odd goal in three.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Reims vs. Lille (Wednesday, 6.00pm)

Two sides in need of a pick-me-up go head to head when Reims and Lille square off at the Stade Auguste Delaune in round 33 of the French Ligue 1 on Wednesday.

The defending champions are currently on a run of one win in six games across all competitions, while the hosts have failed to taste victory in any of their last four outings.

We say: Reims 0-2 Lille

While Lille have struggled to get going, they will be licking their lips as they go up against a floundering Reims side, who have picked up just four wins from 18 home games this season. Gourvennec's men have endured a generally underwhelming title defence so far, but we are tipping them to return to winning ways on Wednesday.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Troyes vs. Clermont (Wednesday, 6.00pm)

Clermont will be seeking to snap a seven-game winless run and steer clear of the relegation zone when they visit the Stade de l'Aube to face Troyes on Wednesday.

Bruno Irles's men, meanwhile, head into the game unbeaten in each of their last five games on home turf and will look to keep this fine form going and strengthen their position in the Ligue 1 standings.

We say: Troyes 1-1 Clermont

Clermont find themselves at the wrong end of the table after an underwhelming campaign and will head into Wednesday's game in search of a spirit-lifting result. The Lancers will fancy their chances against an equally underperforming Troyes side, but we predict the hosts will make use of their home advantage and force a share of the spoils.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Angers vs. PSG (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Paris Saint-Germain can virtually wrap up the Ligue 1 title when Angers welcome them to the Stade Raymond Kopa for Wednesday's encounter.

Les Scoistes played out a 1-1 draw with Nantes in their most recent encounter, while Mauricio Pochettino's men ran out 2-1 winners over Marseille in Le Classique.

We say: Angers 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain

Given PSG's healthy lead at the summit and options for change on the sidelines, Pochettino can afford to rotate amid the quick turnaround, and a reshuffled squad should still have no problem carving their way through a meagre Angers backline.

Les Parisiens may have to wait that little bit longer to officially wrap up the title, but the runaway leaders should do all they can to confirm their status as champions at the Stade Raymond Kopa, where Angers have flattered to deceive more often than not recently.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.

Brest vs. Lyon (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Lyon will bid to extend their unbeaten league run to five matches when they travel to Stade Francis-Le Ble to face Brest on Wednesday.

The hosts, on the other hand, have struggled for wins of late, with just one of their last five matches ending in victory.

We say: Brest 1-1 Lyon

Lyon have struggled for victories on their travels in Ligue 1 this season, and with their last three away matches in all competitions ending in draws, we think the visitors will be held to a point by Brest on Wednesday.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Lens vs. Montpellier (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Lens, who sit in seventh place, will look to continue their push for the European places when they play host to mid-table Montpellier HSC on Wednesday.

The hosts have won three of their last four games, while La Paillade have been victorious in just one of their previous seven matches.

We say: Lens 2-1 Montpellier HSC

Bouyed by a derby victory, Lens will carry momentum into Wednesday's contest, and we think the motivation of a top-five finish will inspire them to victory over a Montpellier side who are experiencing a poor run of form after losing two of their last three matches.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Marseille vs. Nantes (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Aiming to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to rivals Paris-Saint Germain in Le Classique, Marseille will be looking to tighten their grip on second place with a victory against Nantes on Wednesday.

The visitors, on the other hand, can extend their unbeaten run to four matches with a positive result at the Stade Velodrome.

We say: Marseille 2-1 Nantes

Despite losing in Le Clasique, Marseille will enter the contest full of confidence after winning their last four home games in all competitions, and we think the hosts have enough quality to edge out Nantes on Wednesday.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Strasbourg vs. Rennes (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

On Wednesday, fifth-placed Strasbourg will bid to extend their current unbeaten run to 11 matches when they play host to Rennes, who sit in third position.

The visitors, meanwhile, will be looking for a positive response after a 3-2 defeat to Monaco ended an impressive run of form, which saw Rennes go seven Ligue 1 games without defeat.

We say: Strasbourg 2-2 Rennes

Strasbourg have struggled to convert draws into victories in recent weeks, and with the two sides separated by just three points in the Ligue 1 table, we think Le Racing could see their midweek encounter with Rennes also end all square.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.
