PEC Zwolle vs. Ajax - prediction, team news, lineups

Ajax and PEC Zwolle draw the curtain on gameweek 26 of the Eredivisie season with their meeting at the MAC³PARK Stadion on Sunday.

Zwolle are the latest team to try and stop Ajax's seemingly unstoppable charge to yet another domestic title, which looks increasingly inevitable as the weeks pass by.

Match preview

After a slight bump in the road against PSV Eindhoven, Ajax resumed normal service with a 3-1 win over Groningen on Sunday.

Dusan Tadic scored one and set up another in what was a dazzling display which fans have become accustomed to witnessing since his move to the Johan Cruyff ArenA.

Erik ten Hag's men remain six points clear at the top of the Eredivisie table, and they also have a foot in the quarter-final of the Europa League following a 3-0 win over Young Boys on Thursday.

De Godenzonen have also reached the final of this year's KNVB-Beker, so the possibility of a treble is still very much alive.

For now, though, the focus is on Sunday's game against a side who they have beaten in each of the last 10 meetings between the teams.

PEC Zwolle were unable to record consecutive league wins as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Heracles at the Erve Asito on Sunday.

Bert Konterman took charge of his first game at the helm of affairs, but he was left heartbroken as his side conceded a late winner after being on level terms for the majority of the match.

The Dutch manager is now faced with a tough task in his sophomore outing as the league leaders are in town to face off against the Blauwvingers.

Sunday's hosts are in 13th place, eight points away from the drop zone, so it is safe to say that they will not be involved in any relegation scrap this term.

Team News

Andre Onana has been banned from footballing activities for a year after testing positive for Furosemide in a drug test that was conducted in October.

Noussair Mazraoui sustained a head injury in the middle of last month versus Heracles, and he has not featured since then.

Daley Blind is expected to sit the game out due to a knee problem, handing Jurrien Timber another opportunity to impress for the visitors.

Sai van Wermeskerken put in a superb performance for Zwolle against Groningen, but that came at a personal cost as he sustained a calf injury.

On-loan Manchester City forward Slobodan Tedic is a guaranteed absentee as he continues to recover from a rib injury he suffered in a stalemate against Emmen last December.

PEC Zwolle possible starting lineup:

Zetterer; Nakayama, Van Polen, Kersten, Paal; Huiberts, Lam, Reijnders; Pherai, Buitink, Misidjan

Ajax possible starting lineup:

Stekelenburg; Blind, Martinez, Schuurs, Rensch; Gravenberch, Promes, Klaassen; Tadic, Haller, Antony

We say: PEC Zwolle 0-3 Ajax

The away side are looking unbeatable at the moment as they charge towards a 35th Eredivisie crown. While we expect Zwolle to give it their best shot, we also fancy Ajax to cruise to a comfortable victory.
