Preview: Leyton Orient vs. Doncaster Rovers - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's League Two clash between Leyton Orient and Doncaster Rovers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

After losing to Northampton Town, League Two leaders Leyton Orient will be looking for a response when they welcome Doncaster Rovers to Brisbane Road on Saturday.

The visitors, who sit in eighth position, have the chance to claim a third consecutive victory after recording wins over Rochdale and Carlisle United.

Leyton Orient may currently be top of the League Two table, but their progress has slowed in recent weeks after picking up just two points from their last three games.

The O's had recorded four straight victories before they played out consecutive goalless draws against Stevenage and Newport County.

In their most recent outing, they were beaten for just the third time in League Two this season, losing 1-0 to promotion rivals Northampton Town.

While the O's are only two points clear of second-placed Stevenage, they enjoy a 14-point advantage over the teams sat just outside the top three.

Leyton Orient have only lost one of their 12 home games in the fourth tier this season, and they will have the chance to extend their unbeaten home run to seven league matches on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Doncaster will be in a confident mood after winning three of their last four matches, including their last two games.

A narrow 1-0 win over Newport was followed by a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Tranmere Rovers, but they returned to winning ways against Rochdale.

After prevailing in a seven-goal thriller to beat Rochdale 4-3, Doncaster began the new year with a 2-1 win against Carlisle United thanks to goals from James Maxwell and Kyle Hurst.

Doncaster's impressive spell of form leaves them just one point outside the playoff places ahead of their meeting with a Leyton Orient side coached by former Rovers player and manager Richie Wellens.

Although they face a tough test on Saturday, the visitors are unbeaten in their last four games against Leyton Orient, winning three consecutive meetings before the two sides played out a 1-1 draw earlier this season.

Team News

Huddersfield Town boss Danny Schofield on August 9, 2022© Reuters

Leyton Orient will be unable to call upon the services of Omar Beckles, who is suspended after being shown a straight red card against Northampton, while Daniel Happe is set to miss out after he was forced off in the first half of the 1-0 defeat.

With Beckles and Happe unavailable, the hosts will be forced to completely change his centre-back pairing, with Shadrach Ogie and Adam Thompson expected to be given the nod for Saturday's game.

After leaving him out of the starting XI on Monday, Wellens is expected to bring George Moncur back into the starting XI.

As for the visitors, they are unable to call upon the services of Jon Taylor and Joseph Olowu due to injury issues.

Tommy Rowe has missed the last three matches with a back problem, but Doncaster are hopeful that he will at least be fit enough to take up a place on the bench.

After winning their last two matches, Danny Schofield could select the same side for a third consecutive game.

Leyton Orient possible starting lineup:
Vigouroux; James, Thompson, Ogie, Hunt; Brown, El Mizouni; Archibald, Moncur, Kelman; Wareham

Doncaster Rovers possible starting lineup:
Mitchell; Knoyle, Williams, Anderson; Seaman, Biggins, Close, Maxwell; Molyneux, Hurst, Miller

We say: Leyton Orient 2-0 Doncaster Rovers

Although Doncaster are enjoying an impressive run of form, we think that they may come up short against a Leyton Orient side who have won four of their last five home matches.
