Sports Mole previews Saturday's Women's Super League clash between Everton Ladies and Aston Villa Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Aston Villa Women will travel to Walton Hall Park for Saturday's Women's Super League meeting with Everton Ladies.

The hosts are currently sitting in 10th place in the WSL table, while the Villans are two points better off in eighth position.

Everton will be hoping to return to winning ways after losing consecutive matches on their return from the international break.

The Toffees fell to a narrow 2-1 league defeat to Manchester City, before they were edged out by Chelsea in last Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final.

Catarina Macario scored what proved to be the only goal of the game as Brian Sorensen's side suffered their eighth defeat in 10 competitive home matches.

Although they have struggled to produce their best form in front of their own supporters, the Toffees picked up a 2-0 win over West Ham United in their most recent home outing in the WSL.

With Everton looking to claim a second straight home league win, they can take confidence from the fact that they have already beaten Aston Villa on two occasions this season, having recorded 2-1 and 3-0 victories in the league and FA Cup respectively.

Like their hosts, Aston Villa have also fallen to back-to-back defeats following their return from the international period.

The Villans were thrashed 4-1 by Liverpool in the WSL, before they suffered another heavy defeat in their League Cup semi-final against Arsenal.

A Stina Blackstenius hat-trick and a Frida Maanum strike condemned Aston Villa to a 4-0 defeat, leaving Carla Ward's side to focus on WSL action for the remainder of the season.

The Villans have relied heavily on their away form this term, having picked up 12 of their 16 points from their WSL road trips.

They have also won their last two away games against the Toffees, including a 2-0 victory on their most recent trip to Walton Hall Park in March 2023.

Team News

The Toffees are expected to be without the services of Emily Ramsey, Katrine Veje, Sara Holmgaard and Karen Holmgaard.

Karoline Olesen is unlikely to return in time for the weekend after missing the last two matches with an injury that she picked up against West Ham United last month.

After producing a strong showing in the defeat to Chelsea, Sorensen could decide to select an unchanged lineup for Saturday's league contest.

As for the Villans, goalkeeper Anna Leat will continue to deputise for Daphne van Domselaar, who is ruled out with a hip injury.

Kirsty Hanson is sidelined with a calf problem, while Lucy Parker and Lucy Staniforth remain absent due to their respective injury issues.

In more positive news, Canada international Adriana Leon will be available for selection following her return from the Gold Cup.

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Brosnan; Vanhaevermaet, Finnigan, Stenevik; Galli, Wheeler, Bennison, Kuhl; Payne, Piemonte, Snoeijs

Aston Villa Women possible starting lineup:
Leat; Mayling, Turner, Patten, Pacheco; Nobbs, Corsie, Dali; Lehmann, Leon, Daly

We say: Everton Ladies 1-2 Aston Villa Women

Aston Villa have won four of their last six away league games, and we think that they may enjoy more away success against an Everton side that has lost five of their seven home matches in the WSL this season.
