Bermuda vs Jamaica - prediction, team news, lineups

In the first Group B fixture of round three in World Cup 2026 qualifying, Bermuda host Jamaica in an all-Caribbean affair at the Bermuda National Stadium.

A 2-1 win over Cuba on the final matchday of round two enabled Bermuda to finish second in their group, while the Reggae Boys topped their round two pool thanks to a 3-0 victory over Guatemala.

Match preview

Entering the final phase of qualifying, the Bermudans will feel as though they have nothing to lose, making it to the last stage for the first time, while they are the lowest ranked side in Group B in round three (162).

Michael Findlay’s men won their final two qualification fixtures by a combined margin of 7-2, while earning points in three of their four outings.

We saw two very different home games for them in round two, as they followed up a 6-1 defeat to Honduras with a 5-0 triumph over the Cayman Islands.

Bermuda have won their previous three outings versus Caribbean opponents on home soil, netting a combined 10 goals over that stretch.

Since the beginning of 2024, this team have suffered just one defeat across all competitions when leading after 45 minutes, giving up five goals in the second half to Honduras in March en route to a 5-3 defeat.

The Gombey Warriors have found the back of the net in 14 consecutive matches across all competitions, a run that dates back to March 2024.

While it was no surprise to Jamaica finish top of their second-round group, advancing to this stage was not as easy as many would have thought.

Two of their four victories were by a single goal, while two of their three goals allowed came against Dominica, a side ranked 182nd in the world per FIFA.

Despite all of that, they are in the final CONCACAF qualification stage for a second successive cycle, finishing sixth in the final round three years ago.

Steve McClaren’s men are not in great form heading into this contest, losing two of their three matches at the Gold Cup earlier this summer, exiting that competition in the group stage.

A poor start in the final phase of qualifying for Qatar ultimately cost them a place in the finals, with Jamaica going winless in their first five outings.

The Reggae Boyz have never lost a match against Bermuda, winning those previous five outings, the last one being a 2-0 triumph in a March 2020 friendly.

Team News

From matchday three to four in round two of qualifying, Bermuda had the same starting 11, with three newcomers coming on as substitutes; Eusebio Blankendal, Roger Lee and Aunde Todd.

Zeiko Lewis and Reggie Lambe each netted twice in round two of qualifying, with the latter scoring the winner in their victory over Cuba in June.

There is a long list of injuries for Jamaica, with Andre Blake, Leon Bailey, Joel Latibeaudiere, Bobby Reid and Di’Shon Bernard all ruled out with knocks.

Warner Brown and Shamar Nicholson led them with three goals each in the second phase, with the latter now up to 19 for the Reggae Boyz, tied for sixth all-time alongside Walter Boyd.

Bermuda possible starting lineup:

Eve; Jones, Twite, Carpenter, Hill; Martin; Lewis, Clemons, Tucker, Lambe; Wells

Jamaica possible starting lineup:

Waite; Lembikisa, King, Pinnock, Bell; Cephas, Russell, Palmer, Gray; Nicholson, Antonio

We say: Bermuda 0-2 Jamaica

Even with all of the injuries for Jamaica, we doubt Bermuda have the personnel to trouble a side like the Reggae Boyz, who possess far more experience and talent at higher levels.
