Sunday's Ligue 1 predictions including Brest vs. Paris Saint-Germain

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all of Sunday's Ligue 1 fixtures, including Brest vs. Paris Saint-Germain.

Lyon vs. Nice (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Lyon have one final chance to leapfrog Monaco into the third and final Champions League place when they welcome Nice to the Groupama Stadium for the final matchday of the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season.

The hosts occupy fourth spot in the table with 90 minutes left to play - one point behind Monaco - while Nice are destined to finish in mid-table and are simply hoping to give a good account of themselves this weekend.

We say: Lyon 3-1 Nice

Another convincing win for Lyon will count for nought if Monaco come up trumps in their battle with Lens, but Garcia and Depay will be determined to go out with a bang against a Nice side who have nothing to play for.

Gouiri will of course be aiming to show his former club what they are missing, and his teammate Rony Lopes is also renowned for his goalscoring exploits against Lyon, but we are not expecting any shocks at the Groupama Stadium.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Lens vs. Monaco (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Two sides battling to secure their places in their desired European competitions will lock horns on the final matchday in Ligue 1 as Lens play host to Monaco at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Sang et Or occupy sixth spot in the table and have one final chance to push for a Europa League berth, while Monaco's third-placed finish would guarantee them Champions League football next season.

We say: Lens 1-3 Monaco

Desperate to right the wrongs of midweek, Monaco's normally prolific attackers will smell blood against a Lens side who have shown no signs of finding a defensive resolve in recent weeks.

Lens' European hopes remain in their own hands, but we are struggling to see the out-of-form hosts doing the double over Monaco, who ought to be dining at European's top table even if it is too little too late for their title chances.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Brest vs. PSG (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Paris Saint-Germain's stronghold on the Ligue 1 scene could come to a bitter end on Sunday, as they travel to relegation-threatened Brest for the final gameweek of the 2020-21 season.

Mauricio Pochettino's men remain one point behind Lille at the top of the rankings and must hope that their title rivals slip up to retain the crown, whereas Brest's poor form has seen them become embroiled in a fight for survival.

We say: Brest 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain

An 18th-placed finish would symbolise a catastrophic collapse for Brest and their leaky rearguard, who may opt to shift to a more defence-minded formation in order to quell Mbappe and co.

However, the most staunch defence in Europe - barring Manchester City - would struggle to keep Pochettino's attacking forces quiet, and while Les Parisiens should win this one comfortably, Lille's expected victory over Angers would signal the start of a new reign in Ligue 1.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Angers vs. Lille (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Lille coach Christophe Galtier pictured on January 24, 2021© Reuters

The Stade Raymond Kopa could play host to Lille's Ligue 1 title celebrations this week, assuming that they can get the better of Angers on the final day of the season.

Les Dogues sit one point clear of Paris Saint-Germain at the summit, while Angers are assured of survival and have nothing but pride to play for this weekend.

We say: Angers 0-2 Lille

It is not only Lille supporters who are praying for PSG's stronghold on the French football scene to end this weekend, as this season has been a magnificent advert for Ligue 1 and will be even more so if Les Dogues manage to avoid a calamitous collapse on the final day.

There will be no room for sentiment during Moulin's farewell appearance, and we expect Lille to spoil the Angers coach's party with another comfortable win on the road before they collect their winners' medals.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Metz vs. Marseille (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Marseille can clinch their place in the Europa League group stage next season with a win or draw in their final Ligue 1 match this season at Stade Saint-Symphorien against Metz on Sunday.

Les Olympiens are coming off a dramatic 3-2 win against Angers, while Les Grenats are looking to end their campaign on a positive note after losing their last two league games, including a 2-1 defeat to Lorient last Sunday.

We say: Metz 1-3 Marseille

Marseille are the only side in this game who have anything to play for, as they have a chance to qualify for the Europa League, plus their soon-to-be former striker Florian Thauvin will want to end his time with the club on a high note.

Metz will be content to start fresh next season, especially given their form at home lately, where they have lost six consecutive matches and failed to score in three of them.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Nantes vs. Montpellier (Sunday, 8.00pm)

The enthralling Ligue 1 relegation battle prepares to reach its climax on Sunday as 18th-placed Nantes take on mid-table Montpellier HSC in the final gameweek of the 2020-21 season.

Les Canaris enter the game on a four-match winning streak during an unforeseen revival, while Montpellier are playing for pride before Michel Der Zakarian bids his farewells.

We say: Nantes 2-1 Montpellier HSC

Despite their combined age of 79, Hilton and Daniel Congre form a much more resilient backline than Nantes' recent opponents, and Les Canaris cannot expect to break them down freely like they did against Brest and Dijon.

However, Kombouare's side are the in-form team in the league at present and will refuse to pass up on this opportunity to clamber to safety - especially with at least one of Strasbourg or Lorient guaranteed to drop points in their crunch match - so we expect Nantes to confirm survival with victory against an indifferent Montpellier side.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

St Etienne vs. Dijon (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Saint-Etienne manager Claude Puel pictured in February 2021© Reuters

Saint-Etienne take on Dijon in Ligue 1 on Sunday, with the hosts hoping to sneak into the top half of the table on the final day.

Dijon, meanwhile, have lost 16 of their last 17 league matches and had their relegation confirmed last month.

We say: Saint-Etienne 2-0 Dijon

We expect St Etienne to end the season with a comfortable victory against already-relegated Dijon.

Puel's side can earn a top-half position with a win, so they will be hoping for a favour from Marseille against 10th-placed Metz.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.

Rennes vs. Nimes (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Rennes will close out their 2020-21 Ligue 1 season on Sunday when they host Nimes at Stade de la Route de Lorient.

The highest Les Rennais can finish is sixth, as they currently sit a point back of Lens for that spot, while Nimes will savour one last match in the French top flight before they drop down to Ligue 2 next season.

We say: Rennes 2-0 Nimes

Rennes are unbeaten in their last four encounters at home against Les Crocodiles, while Nimes have only beaten them once in their previous nine matches.

Stade Rennais have a lot more consistency to their game and have been able to keep their games close, whereas Nimes have failed to stay close in several games, losing seven times by three goals or more.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Reims vs. Bordeaux (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Reims manager David Guion pictured in October 2020© Reuters

A pair of sides desperate for points to assure their place in Ligue 1 beyond this season will face each other on Sunday at Stade Auguste-Delaune as Reims play host to Bordeaux.

Les Rouges et Blancs are currently 13th in the standings and are winless in their previous seven Ligue 1 fixtures, while Bordeaux are tied with Reims on points and find themselves in 14th place after defeating Lens 3-0 last weekend.

We say: Reims 2-0 Bordeaux

Reims have usually finished a Ligue 1 campaign on a positive note, winning their final match of the season in the top flight on three consecutive occasions, dating back to 2015-16 when they were relegated.

They are unbeaten against Bordeaux in their last six home fixtures, holding the Girondins scoreless on four occasions.

Our tipster partners are predicting a double chance bet on a home win or draw.

Strasbourg vs. Lorient (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Strasbourg manager Thierry Laurey pictured in February 2020© Reuters

Strasbourg take on Lorient in Ligue 1 on Sunday in a potentially pivotal relegation clash.

Both sides are one point ahead of 18th-placed Nantes heading into the final day, with six sides still mathematically able to finish in the first relegation position.

We say: Strasbourg 1-1 Lorient

With both sides likely to deploy back five systems in a nervy relegation battle, we can envisage a tense affair in Strasbourg on Sunday.

Much will depend on events elsewhere, but with a draw potentially suiting both sides given that Brest have an incredibly tough match against title-chasing PSG, it would not be a surprise to see a share of the spoils ensue here.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.
