Ukrainian ambassador threatens to boot Russia out of World Cup?

A Ukrainian ambassador has reportedly threatened to start a petition to get Russia banned from the World Cup this summer in Brazil due to their ongoing conflict.

It is believed that a figure within Ukrainian politics will look to have Russia removed from the football tournament should war break out.

BBC News journalist Chris Morris wrote on Twitter: "Ukrainian ambassador to #EU tells me one sanction they will push for if Moscow doesn't back down is expel Russia from World Cup this summer.

"#EU calls on Russia to withdraw troops immediately. (Or we'll kick you out of World Cup, they didn't add)."

Russia will host the 2018 World Cup.
