The NBA and the NBA Players Association have confirmed that they will make a donation to the UNICEF relief effort in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan.
Reports on Monday have claimed that there may have been as many as 10,000 people killed and a UNICEF statement on Sunday suggested that four million children could be affected by the disaster.
A donation of $250,000 will be made by the NBA and the NBPA, while the league have also confirmed that another donation will be given to a different organisation.
Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, whose mother is from the Philippines, will appear in a public service announcement in an attempt to encourage more donations.
