Porto look to continue their perfect start to their Primeira Liga title defence as they welcome in-form Arouca to Estadio do Dragao for matchday three action on Sunday.
Francesco Farioli's side have won their opening two league fixtures, placing them second in the Portuguese top-flight table, behind this weekend's visitors on goal difference.
Match preview
After ending a three-year wait for the Portuguese top-flight title last term, Porto's next ambition will be to lift the trophy in consecutive seasons for the first time since their three-peat between 2010 and 2013, and they have made an excellent start to that quest.
Farioli's men opened their Primeira Liga campaign with a 2-0 home victory over Alverca before recording another 2-0 win at Rio Ave last weekend, with Nehuen Perez and Borja Sainz scoring either side of half-time.
As such, the Blue and Whites have won three competitive matches since their summer friendlies, having also edged second-tier side Torreense 1-0 to clinch the Super Cup, and Porto appear to be carrying over the defensive strength that served them so well last term.
No side kept more clean sheets than the Dragons’ 21 in the Primeira Liga last season, and they are one of just three teams yet to concede in the current campaign, alongside Gil Vicente and this weekend's visitors.
However, given Porto have won each of the last four meetings between these sides by multiple-goal margins, including a 3-1 success at the Dragao in February, they will be confident of securing another victory this weekend.
Meanwhile, Arouca will fancy their chances of ending that unwanted head-to-head pattern given their impressive start to the campaign, having followed a hard-fought victory at Vitoria de Guimaraes on matchday one with a dominant 4-0 home win over Moreirense last time out.
Unlike their opening-day success at Estadio D. Afonso Henriques, where the decisive moment came after half-time, the Wolves raced into a three-goal lead before the break courtesy of Maracas's own goal, a Jose Fontan strike and a close-range header from Ivan Barbero before Dylan Nandín completed the rout in stoppage time.
The emphatic victory continued Arouca's impressive form from the previous campaign, with Lobos now unbeaten in their last five matches and having won their last four after closing out 2025-26 with victories in their final two outings to finish eighth in the standings.
That marked an improvement on their 12th-placed finish the previous season, though the Wolves’ best finish since returning to the top flight in 2021-22 remains fifth in 2022-23, and they appear ready to push beyond that mark this term.
While a trip to the Dragao represents a genuine opportunity to make a statement, Arouca have managed just one victory from their previous nine league visits to the ground, losing seven of those encounters.

Team News
Porto remain without Samu Aghehowa, Claudio Ramos, Martim Fernandes and Vasco Sousa, who are all ruled out as they continue their respective recoveries.
Alan Varela and Oskar Pietuszewski have also made good progress in their recoveries, but Sunday's encounter is likely to come too soon for both players.
All four of Porto's league goals this season have come from different players, including summer signing Andre Silva, who is expected to lead the line once again.
Aside from a knee injury to winger Miguel Puche, Arouca appear to have no fresh fitness concerns, and Seabra is expected to retain the winning lineup from the previous outing.
Diogo Monteiro is also available for selection after serving a one-match suspension for the red card he received in the opening weekend trip to Vitoria.
Barbero has scored in both of Arouca's opening two fixtures of the campaign and will be hoping to maintain that form when his side face the champions this weekend.
Porto possible starting lineup:
D Costa; A Costa, Bednarek, Kiwior, Zaidu; Froholdt, Rosario, Veiga; W Gomes, A Silva, Pepe
Arouca possible starting lineup:
De Arruabarrena; Esgaio, Sanchez, Fontan, Lebedenko; Van Ee, Fukui; Trezza, Lee, Djouahra; Barbero
We say: Porto 1-0 Arouca
Arouca's form and settled squad make this a more testing assignment than the head-to-head record suggests, particularly with Porto dealing with a lengthy injury list this week.
However, the Dragons' defensive solidity and outstanding recent record against Sunday's visitors at the Dragao should be enough to see the champions maintain their perfect start.
