Today's Premier League previews include Manchester United making the trip to take on last season's Championship playoff winners Hull City at the MKM Stadium and a new-look Tottenham Hotspur squad making the short trip to face Brentford.
Hull City vs. Manchester United (12.30pm)
Manchester United will begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign with a clash against newly-promoted Hull City on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils were third in last season's Premier League table, while Hull secured a return to England's top flight through the 2025-26 Championship playoffs.
We say: Hull City 1-2 Manchester United
This has the potential to be a tricky match for Man United, and we are not expecting the Red Devils to have it all their own way, but Carrick's side should be able to navigate their way to all three points on the opening weekend of the new campaign.
Ipswich Town vs. Sunderland (3pm)
Newly-promoted Ipswich Town begin life back in the Premier League with a Portman Road clash against Sunderland on the opening weekend of the 2026-27 season.
Saturday afternoon’s contest sees a Tractor Boys outfit who finished second in the Championship last term come up against a Black Cats side who secured seventh place in the top flight.
We say: Ipswich Town 1-1 Sunderland
Portman Road is sure to be rocking for Ipswich’s first game back in the big time, but it remains to be seen whether their influx of new signings can gel quickly enough to overcome a solid Sunderland outfit they have never beaten in three consecutive league games.
While the Black Cats should provide a stern opening-day test, the Tractor Boys may still do enough to frustrate the visitors and salvage a hard-earned point.
Everton vs. Crystal Palace (3pm)
Everton and Crystal Palace square off at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for their opening fixture of the 2026-27 Premier League season on Saturday afternoon.
The Toffees celebrated a 2-1 comeback victory at home against the Eagles in October last year, with Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish scoring two late goals to secure maximum points.
We say: Everton 2-1 Crystal Palace
Everton's excellent head-to-head record against Crystal Palace should give them plenty of confidence as they look to exploit a transitioning visiting side on the opening weekend.
With the Eagles still needing time to fully master Sage's new tactical ideas, the Toffees are well-placed to capitalise on home soil and edge out a narrow victory.
Nottingham Forest vs. Leeds United (3pm)
Oliver Glasner’s reign as Nottingham Forest head coach begins on Saturday afternoon when his team welcome Leeds United to the City Ground for their opening fixture of the 2026-27 Premier League season.
The Tricky Trees claimed a 3-1 victory over the Whites in this exact fixture last season before losing by the same scoreline at Elland Road in February.
We say: Nottingham Forest 0-1 Leeds United
Having caught the eye with their stellar pre-season performances, Leeds could prove to be a major headache for a transitioning Nottingham Forest team, still adapting to Glasner's new tactical system, on the opening weekend.
The disciplined visitors are well-equipped to stifle the hosts' attacking threat and they may have what it takes to grind out a surprise, slender triumph on away soil.
Brentford vs. Tottenham Hotspur (5.30pm)
One of two all-London showdowns in gameweek one of the 2026-27 Premier League season, Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur cut the ribbons on their new campaigns at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday evening.
Not since the days of Thomas Frank have the Bees come up trumps against Spurs, whose permanent successor to the Dane now 'officially' begins his capital conquest in his first full season in charge.
We say: Brentford 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham's attack may have a ravaged feel to it, but with Mikey Moore, Mathys Tel and Richarlison all shining in pre-season - alongside the returns to fitness of Solanke and Maddison - De Zerbi's front-footed men will come out firing.
However, as a number of new defensive signings become accustomed to each other, a goal-happy Brentford side should give as good as they get in a dramatic opening-day draw.
