Saturday's La Liga predictions and previews including Espanyol vs. Real Madrid

Real Madrid to start with a win? Saturday's La Liga predictions and previews

Today's La Liga predictions include Real Madrid's clash with Espanyol, and a contest between Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Sevilla (Saturday, 4pm)

Athletic Bilbao will be aiming to make the perfect start to their 2026-27 La Liga campaign when they welcome Sevilla to San Mames on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions were not involved in gameweek one, but Sevilla opened their season with a 2-1 success over Rayo Vallecano to put an early three points on the board.

We say: Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Sevilla

There has only been one draw between these two sides since October 2022, but we are expecting a tight match this weekend to finish all square.

Valencia vs. Celta Vigo (Saturday, 6.30pm)

Valencia and Celta Vigo will begin their respective 2026-27 La Liga campaigns with a contest at Mestalla on Saturday evening.

The hosts finished ninth in Spain's top flight last season, while the visitors were sixth, which saw them qualify for the league phase of the Europa League.

We say: Valencia 1-1 Celta Vigo

Celta's recent record against Valencia is impressive, but we are expecting Los Che to be good enough for a point in front of their own supporters this weekend.

Espanyol vs Real Madrid (Saturday, 8.30pm)

Real Madrid's 2026-27 La Liga campaign will begin on Saturday evening, with Jose Mourinho's side heading to RCDE Stadium to tackle Espanyol.

Los Blancos will be aiming to wrestle the title back from Barcelona this season, while Espanyol will have their eyes on a top-half finish, and the Catalan outfit opened their campaign with a 3-0 success over Levante on August 16.

We say: Espanyol 1-3 Real Madrid

Espanyol were excellent against Levante, but Real Madrid are a different proposition entirely, and we are expecting Los Blancos to begin their 2026-27 campaign with a victory.
