Philadelphia, Montreal play out goalless draw

Montreal Impact and the Philadelphia Union played out a goalless draw in their MLS Eastern Conference clash.

The home side had a great chance to take the lead when Conor Casey's flick-on landed at the feet of Jack McInerney, but he could only direct a tame effort at Troy Perkins.

Minutes later Sebastien Le Toux had a great chance when he linked up with Casey and shot from the edge of the area, but he hit his effort straight at Perkins, who made the save.

Just before half time Le Toux had another excellent chance as Danny Cruz raided down the right and cut the ball back to him on the penalty spot, but Perkins made an excellent reaction save to parry the ball to safety.

After the break, Montreal finally got into the game as Felipe's shot from distance troubled Zac MacMath but went just over the bar from 35 yards out.

With time running out, the Impact were upping the ante and they nearly nicked a winner as Marco Di Vaio struck a powerful effort from the edge of the area, which went just wide of the post, but both teams had to settle for a point.
