Monaco have reportedly joined the race for Manuel Ugarte, with the Manchester United midfielder not short of interest ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Uruguay international arrived at Old Trafford from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2024, and he has made 68 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.
It has been a struggle for the 24-year-old, though, with the South American finding it difficult to show his best form during his time in English football.
Ugarte has featured on 23 occasions during the 2025-26 campaign, but the midfielder has started just seven times in the Premier League this term.
The South American has a contract with the Red Devils until June 2029, with the option of a further 12 months, but it is unlikely that he will stay at Man United beyond the summer.
Monaco 'join the race' for Man United's Ugarte
Juventus have recently been linked with Ugarte, while there is believed to be interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Monaco are also keen on the midfielder, with the principality club likely to make an attempt to bring him to Ligue 1.
"Ugarte is going to be the casualty of United's midfield revamp, even with Casemiro departing," Jacobs told The United Stand.
"It's clear that best case scenario he will be a squad player once United bring in midfielders and extend [Kobbie] Mainoo's contract. Ajax made an enquiry, there is interest from France with Monaco interested. Again Saudi and Turkey will be there."
Ugarte is set to leave Man United this summer
Ugarte put in a strong performance to help Uruguay draw 1-1 with England in an international friendly last week, and it is obvious that he is a quality player in the right environment.
It has not happened for the midfielder at Man United, but there are plenty of reasons to believe that he will be a success at a different club.
The Red Devils want to revamp their midfield this summer, with the 20-time English champions expected to make at least two signings in that area of the field.
Despite the recent speculation surrounding Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali, it is understood that Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson remains their leading midfield target.
