Leicester City interested in signing Jesse Lingard?

Jesse Lingard is reportedly a transfer target for Leicester City as the club prepares for the possible departure of James Maddison.

Leicester City are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard as a potential replacement for James Maddison.

The England international was the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with rumours of a return to West Ham United being rife after a successful loan period with the Hammers last season.

In the end, Lingard opted to stay with the Red Devils in a bid to fight for his place in the team, but with high-profile signings such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, it is unknown if Lingard will be part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's long-term plans.

According to Fichajes, Leicester City are now looking at the midfielder as a potential future signing as Brendan Rodgers looks to prepare for possibly losing Maddison.

Arsenal were heavily linked with the Foxes star throughout the summer and, although he ended up staying at his respective club as well, his future still remains uncertain.

Lingard opened his account for the season during Manchester United's 4-1 victory against Newcastle United at the weekend, while he also scored twice while on international duty recently as England defeated Andorra.

The midfielder recently turned down a new contract with the Red Devils as he wants assurances of his game time, which has fuelled more speculation about his future.
