Man Utd made Ruben Amorim 'sack decision' before Leeds United game

Already doomed: Man Utd made Amorim 'sack decision' before Leeds

Manchester United reportedly decided to sack head coach Ruben Amorim prior to the match at Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have parted ways with the Portuguese boss after just 14 months of failing to earn silverware.

Amorim's final match arrived at Elland Road versus Leeds, who managed to force a share of the spoils in Yorkshire.

It was Daniel Farke's side who raced into a second-half lead courtesy of an effort from Brenden Aaronson.

In danger of recording their sixth Premier League loss of the term, Man Utd equalised just moments later via Matheus Cunha.

Man Utd made sack decision before Leeds result?

According to The Telegraph, the timeline of Amorim's high-profile sacking is not what it originally appears.

The report claims that the 40-year-old head coach was told of his impending dismissal prior to the Leeds match on Sunday afternoon.

It is understood that Amorim had a crunch meeting with Director of Football Jason Wilcox on Friday in preparation for the weekend.

The Portuguese manager was allegedly informed of his fate in the boardroom, despite going on to lead the Red Devils at Elland Road.

Amorim's 'emotional behaviour' has been cited as a major reason behind Man United's decision to pull the managerial trigger.

Where are Man Utd left now?

Despite the woeful reign of Amorim over the past 14 months, Man Utd still have plenty to fight for in the immediate future.

The Red Devils are sitting sixth in the Premier League standings, just three points behind Liverpool in fourth.

For whoever arrives into the Old Trafford hotseat next, securing Champions League football will be the order for the remainder of 2025-26.
