Two goals at Old Trafford? Sunday's Premier League predictions and previews

Today's Premier League predictions include the heavyweight battle between Manchester United and Liverpool, as well as Tottenham Hotspur's trip to Aston Villa.

Bournemouth vs. Crystal Palace (Sunday, 2pm)

Two managers who have decided to seek pastures new in the summer will butt heads at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth play host to Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace.

A six-goal thriller was played out between these two teams in the reverse fixture at Selhurst Park, with Jean-Philippe Mateta completing his hat-trick with a 97th-minute equaliser for the Eagles.

We say: Bournemouth 2-1 Crystal Palace

Each of the last three head-to-head meetings between Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have ended all square, and another tight contest could be in store this weekend.

However, taking into account the Cherries’ formidable unbeaten run, and the prospect of Palace protecting key assets for their continental second leg, we are backing the hosts to claim three valuable points to boost their top-seven hopes.

Man United vs. Liverpool (Sunday, 3.30pm)

While neither Manchester United nor Liverpool are vying for Premier League glory this season, Sunday's Old Trafford main event is arguably still the biggest game in English football.

The stakes are raised even higher than normal for gameweek 35 too, as the hosts will be assured of a Champions League spot with all three points, as will the visitors if other results go their way.

We say: Manchester United 1-1 Liverpool

Neither Man United nor Liverpool have been blowing opponents to smithereens during their recent positive stretches, and an encounter as tight at the table should ensue at Old Trafford.

A Liverpool victory is surely out of the question given their injury concerns, but the Reds can still deny their hosts all three points, even if just one might be enough for Man United to regain their Champions League status.

Aston Villa vs. Tottenham (Sunday, 7pm)

On opposite ends of 1-0 scorelines during their most recent encounters, Champions League-chasing Aston Villa and relegation-battling Tottenham Hotspur meet at Villa Park in Sunday's Premier League contest.

The Lions return to domestic action after a narrow loss to Nottingham Forest in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final, while Spurs' one-goal triumph at Wolverhampton Wanderers saw the Lilywhites belatedly win a Premier League game in 2026.

We say: Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

The losses of Solanke and Simons may not prove fatal for Tottenham, as the former's replacement Richarlison is on 13 goal contributions for the Premier League season, and Spurs have evidently been galvanised by De Zerbi's methods.

As Villa have one eye on the Europa League and have been found wanting in front of goal in their last two games, the visitors could claim a hard-earned point, albeit one that will not be enough to drag them to safety.
