Frosinone vs. Hellas Verona - prediction, team news, lineups

Frosinone host Hellas Verona in round eight of this weekend's Serie A action, seeking maximum points at Stadio Benito Stirpe on Sunday.

The hosts' five-game unbeaten run was halted at Roma in gameweek seven, while Verona's two-game losing run ended against Torino.

Match preview

Frosinone have enjoyed some pleasing results on their return to Serie A, defeating Atalanta BC and holding Fiorentina to a draw, but the new boys came unstuck at Roma on Sunday.

That round seven defeat ended a five-match undefeated run for Eusebio Di Francesco's side, which included four points from a possible six against European contenders.

There is no shame in losing at the Olimpico, but the capital club seek a response when they host Verona on Sunday.

Results at Stadio Benito Stirpe have been encouraging, with Di Francesco's team winning two and picking up a draw in three games since the opening-day defeat against defending Serie A champions Napoli.

Avoiding a loss to Verona extends that run to four without losing, an outcome that is undoubtedly feasible for the home side, who are turning their ground into a fortress.

Beating the 15th-placed opponents ideally should be straightforward for a side that have picked up on point from the last nine on their travels.

That point came at Torino in gameweek seven, a draw that ended Verona's two-game losing run in the league.

Monday's encounter in Turin was a poor game devoid of goalmouth action, but it remains to be seen if the same approach benefits Marco Baroni's men.

The Veneto-based club claimed back-to-back wins at the start of the campaign, but that has been replaced by a five-game sequence without losing — a run of games that has seen the Mastiffs play Milan and Atalanta.

Maximum points against his former club on Sunday will be just what the doctor ordered before the international break, especially as Verona play Napoli in their first game after the hiatus.

Team News

Frosinone have several unavailable players for this weekend's clash with Verona, with Simone Romagnoli, Abdou Harroui, Francesco Gelli and Sergio Kalaj not expected to return until after the international break.

Kaio Jorge is doubtful for Sunday's game and is touch-and-go for Di Francesco's men.

Verona are in worse shape than the hosts given the injuries to Isak Hien, Pawel Dawidowicz, Milan Djuric, Juan Cabal, Jordi Mboula, Josh Doig and Jayden Braaf.

Bruno Amione was substituted in Monday's game at Torino, and the centre-back's injury should keep him out of round eight's action.

Frosinone possible starting lineup:

Turati; Oyono, Okoli, Monterisi, Marchizza; Mazzitelli, Bourabia, Reinier; Soule, Cheddira, Baez

Hellas Verona possible starting lineup:

Montipo; Faraoni, Magnani, Coppola; Terracciano, Duda, Folorunsho, Lazovic; Suslov, Ngonge; Bonazzoli

We say: Frosinone 2-1 Hellas Verona

Frosinone's strength at home could see them edge Verona in what should be a closely-fought encounter.
