FC Twente vs. Vitesse - prediction, team news, lineups

In search of a first league victory in six matches, FC Twente welcome Vitesse to the Grolsch Veste Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the visitors have not tasted defeat in any of their last four league outings, picking up 10 points from a possible 12 in that time.

Match preview

Twente were involved in a share of the spoils for the seventh time since the turn of the year as they were held to a 0-0 draw at the Abe Lenstra Stadion by Heerenveen a fortnight ago.

In a game where clear-cut openings were at a premium, it was the visitors who came closest to claiming all three points as Jesse Bosch and Luciano Narsingh both spurned gilt-edged chances.

That stalemate was the fourth in five games for Ron Jans's men, so it is no surprise that they are beginning to lose ground on the teams around them.

The Tukkers remain eighth in the Eredivisie table, but they are only three points ahead of 11th-placed Fortuna Sittard.

Saturday's hosts came out on top in February's reverse fixture, and completing a league double over their visitors would be a good start to getting their season back on track.

Vitesse's four-game winning run in all competitions was brought to an end by Willem II two Sundays ago in a 0-0 draw at the GelreDome.

Thomas Letsch's men were in the ascendancy for the majority of the match, but they failed to convert that dominance into anything significant.

Those dropped points have seen Vitas lose ground on AZ Alkmaar in the race to finish as runners-up behind runaway leaders Ajax.

Nonetheless, Saturday's visitors will back themselves to return to winning ways at a ground where they have lost only one of their last five games.

Team News

Julio Pleguezuelo and Vaclav Cerny picked up season-ending knee injuries in February, and are unavailable for this one.

Mees Hilgers has had just 15 minutes of playing time with the senior team so far, and he is ruled out for the game due to a hip injury.

Max Bruns is Twente's final absentee for the match as the 18-year-old Dutch midfielder continues to battle with a calf problem.

For the second game running, Vitesse have a clean bill of health as the players have returned from the international break unscathed.

However, Thomas Letsch could make some alterations to his starting XI for the clash in a bid to give his returning players a breather.

FC Twente possible starting lineup:

Drommel; Dumic, Staring, Pierie, Ebuehi; Zerrouki, Roemeratoe, Bosch; Menig, Danilo, Van Leeuwen

Vitesse possible starting lineup:

Pasveer; Wittek, Rasmussen, Bazoer, Doekhi, Dasa; Tannane, Bero, Bruns; Broja, Darfalou

We say: FC Twente 1-1 Vitesse

While Twente have not necessarily been in good form recently, they have a found a way to avoid defeat on a number of occasions, and we fancy them to come away from this one with a point to their name.
