Zimbabwe expelled from 2018 World Cup qualifying

FIFA has announced that Zimbabwe have been expelled from qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia due to a pay dispute.

The football federation of the national side has been punished after failing to pay coach Jose Claudinei Georgini.

A statement from the world governing body read: "The expulsion comes as a result of the non-payment of an outstanding debt by ZIFA (the Zimbabwe Football Federation) to the coach Jose Claudinei Georgini following a decision passed on August 15, 2012 by the FIFA Players' Status Committee."

The 67-year-old manager was given the coaching role back in 2008.
