Steve Bruce reportedly remains in contention for the Wolverhampton Wanderers managerial role.

Steve Bruce is believed to still be in contention for the managerial vacancy at Wolverhampton Wanderers, despite reports that the former Sunderland boss had rejected the opportunity.

The 51-year-old was touted as an early contender for the position following Mick McCarthy's dismissal last week.

With Alan Curbishley reportedly rejecting a second approach from Wolves, and Reading coach Brian McDermott signing a new deal with the Royals, Bruce has re-entered the running.

It is believed that club owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey will begin speaking to potential coaches including Bruce today, according to sportinglife.com.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Gus Poyet was also approached by the Premier League side.
