Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Copa America Group B clash between Uruguay and Paraguay.

Oscar Tabarez's side need to earn a positive result this evening to ensure they earn a place in the knockout stage of the competition as they are currently third in Group C on three points after their two fixtures so far. La Celeste won their opening game against Jamaica by a 1-0 scoreline, but fell to a defeat to Argentina last time out, leaving them with work to do tonight to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

Paraguay have already earned their spot in the next round of the competition and all that needs to be decided is who they will face and where. Ramon Diaz's men are currently in second place in the group as they defeated Jamaica 1-0 last time out, while their late comeback against Argentina in their first game could prove to be very crucial. Los Guaraníes will be determined to finish top of the group to give them an easier fixture in the quarter-finals where they could play the third-placed team from either Group A or C.

The team news has been announced and we'll start with Uruguay.

URUGUAY STARTING XI: Muslera, M Pereira, Gimenez, Coates, A Pereira, Sanchez, Gonzalez, Arevalo, Rolan, Hernandez, Cavani
Subs: Fucile, De Arrascaeta, Stuani, Munoz, G Silva, Lodeiro, G Pereira, Corujo, J Rodriguez, M Silva, C Rodriguez

PARAGUAY STARTING XI: Villar, Caceres, Da Silva, B Valdez, Piris, Bobadilla, Ortigoza, Benitez, Molinas, N Valdez, Barrios
Subs: Santa Cruz, Martinez, Balbuena, Oscar Romero, Aranda, A Aguilar, Silva, P Aguilar, V Caceres, Gonzalez, Ortiz

Tabarez has made thre changes to his side as Abel Hernandez, Sebastian Coates and Carlos Sanchez come into the side to replace the injured Diego Godin, Cristian Rodriguez and Nicolas Lodeiro. Uruguay will operate with Edinson Cavani and Hernandez leading the line, while Diego Rolan will be in close support. As you will have probably heard before Luis Suarez is out of the competition due to his suspension for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup last year.

Paraguay have made six change to their lineup as Justo Villar, Ivan Piris, Osmar Molinas, Lucas Barrios, Marcos Caceres and Nelson Valdez all come into the team.

The players are making their way out on to the pitch and we should be underway shortly.

The anthems have been sung so kickoff is just moments away in La Serena.

KICKOFF: We're underway in this Copa America Group B match.

Uruguay break through the middle as Cavani finds space to run with the ball, and he slides the ball over to Rolan on the left flank. The winger tries to take the ball past two Paraguay defenders, but is dispossessed and attacked is quelled.

YELLOW CARD! Hernandez goes into the book for Uruguay in the early stages of the match for a poor challenge on Paulo da Silva.

From the resulting free kick Ortigoza lifts the ball deep into the box for the run of Barrios, who wins the ball in the air to direct a header at goal, but his effort is saved by Muslera. The referee whistled for a foul as well so the effort would not have counted if it had gone in anyway.

Cavani finds space between the Paraguay defence and midfield and drives towards goal. He has time to fire a left-footed strike at goal, but his effort has far too much height on it and it sails harmlessly over the bar.

YELLOW CARD! Ortigoza is the second player to be booked this evening as he brings down Arevalo Rios outside the box.

The resulting free kick from Sanchez fails to threaten the goal of Villar and Paraguay manage to get the ball clear. Not much quality in the game at the moment.

Maxi Pereira raids down the right flank for La Celeste as he gets the better of Piris. He tries to fire a low ball across the face of goal, but Da Silva is there to divert the ball behind for a corner. From the resulting cross, Paraguay once again manage to clear the danger.

CHANCE! Paraguay win a corner down the right and Ortigoza lifts the ball into the box and Nelson Valdez rises highest in the box to head at goal. His header travels to the back post where Barrios tries to guide it into the net from close range, but his effort goes past the post. A golden opportunity for Los Guaranies to take the lead.

Piris speeds down the left flank for Paraguay and he tries to take a touch past Gonzalez, who flies in with a vicious tackle. He upends the defender giving Ramon Diaz's men a chance to threaten from a free kick from the left.

Bobadilla stands over the free kick and lifts the ball into the box, but his delivery is poor as he overhits the cross and it sails out for throw-in on the opposite flank.

Uruguay try to press Paraguay up the field as Bruno Valdez tries to clear the ball from his own box and Hernandez goes to close him down, but can only trip the defender. The Hull City forward has already been booked and could well be on his last warning after that challenge.

Maxi Pereira slides a through-ball down the right for the run of Hernandez down the right flank. The forward cuts back on to his left foot and tries to pick out the run of Gonzalez on the edge of the box, but he misplaces the ball and Paraguay clear the danger.

This game is lacking in quality at the moment as neither side has been able to get into passing rhythm. Barrios has had the best chance of the game with his header from close range, which has been the only thing of note to happen in the final third.

Oritgoza puts a dangerous ball into the box from a free kick, but Gimenez gets up well to clear the ball with a thumping header to avert the danger. Paraguay bring the ball forward down the right and win a corner to put the pressure on once more.

Bobadilla's corner is cleared as far as Piris who drills the ball at goal, but his effort is blocked and La Celeste are able to clear.

GOAL! Uruguay 1-0 Paraguay (Gimenez)

Uruguay take the lead from a corner as Sanchez whips in a quality delivery from the right and Gimenez gets inbetween two defenders to guide his header into the net with the aid of the post. A vital goal for La Celeste.

Tabarez's men try to keep the pressure on Paraguay as Maxi Pereira drives down the right flank and whips the ball into the box and the ball goes behind off Bruno Valdez, although the referee points for a goal kick. Better intent from La Celeste now.

Los Guaranies earn a chance to threaten as they win a free kick on the edge of the box. Ortigoza stands over the ball and attempts to blast the ball towards goal, but his effort crashes off the wall and bounces behind for a corner.

Uruguay clear the corner and break down the right side again before winning a corner of their own. Los Guaranies clear the initial cross into the box, but Rolan lifts the ball back into the box for the run of Coates at the back post, but it's just inches too high for the Liverpool defender.

CHANCE! Sanchez makes another burst down the right flank for Uruguay and wins another corner. The delivery from Sanchez is pinpoint for Gimenez in the area, who heads at goal and looks to have notched his second goal of the game, but Villar makes a fine save on the line to keep his side in the game.

CHANCE! Rolan collects the poor clearance and drives towards goal before firing a low strike, which is deflected into the path of Cavani, but he can only poke his effort wide of the post. So close to a second for La Celeste.

Diaz's men are desperately trying to retain possession for a couple of minutes to stop the avalanche of attacks from Uruguay. All the momentum is with La Celeste and they are enjoying a great deal of success down the right flank.

Paraguay threaten down the right as Nelson Valdez lifts a ball into the box for the run of Barrios at the back post, but Maxi Pereira is on hand to clear the ball behind for a corner.

GOAL! Uruguay 1-1 Paraguay (Barrios)

Paraguay find an equaliser as Benitez whips the ball into the middle with his left foot from the corner and Barrios outmuscles Gimenez in the six-yard box to power a header past Muslera from close range. A clinical finish from the forward.

There will be one minute of added time.

HALF-TIME: Uruguay 1-1 Paraguay

Paraguay snatch an equaliser right on the stroke of half time to get back into the match through Lucas Barrios. Uruguay had dominated since they took the lead as Jose Gimenez headed them in front in the 29th minute and had chances to double their advantage, but Los Guaranies made them pay for their missed opportunities to tie the score at the break.

The match has lacked quality for the majority of the half bar a few moments in the final third from Sanchez and Maxi Pereira down the right from Uruguay, and from Ortigoza and Benitez from Diaz's side. Both teams have been susceptible from set pieces and that will be something to monitor as the game progresses.

The players have emerged for the second half so we should be back underway shortly.

SUBSTITUTION: Hernandez is replaced by Stuani at the break for La Celeste.

RESTART: We're back underway in La Serena.

A long ball forward from Molinas almost falls for Barrios as he tries to break between Gimenez and Coates, but the ball bounces off his shoulder and Coates manages to get to the ball to clear back downfield.

Oritgoza lofts the ball into the box from the right, looking for the head of Barrios as he tussles with Coates. However, the defender wins the battle as Barrios drops to the floor and allows Muslera to collect. The forward may have been searching for a penalty there, but he was never going to get it.

CHANCE! Uruguay work the ball well across the pitch for the run of Maxi Pereira who lifts a dangerous cross in from the right and Cavani pulls off his man to receive the ball. The forward attempts to guide a header in at the near post, but his effort goes just past the post. Another opening spurned by the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

The game has slowed down in the past few minutes as neither side has been able to build up a rhythm to play after the restart. Both sides have been reduced into playing long balls forward, which have not been held up by the frontmen.

Sanchez shows a burst of pace down the right and spots Stuani in the middle of the box, and tries to pick him out with a cross into the middle. However, the ball is too high for the striker and it travels behind for a goal kick.

Ortigoza is in trouble here as he goes pulls up clutching his hamstring while chasing down a loose ball. The cart has come out to take him from the field and that should be the end of his evening.

CHANCE! Rolan slides a pass to Alvaro Pereira who drills the ball towards the near post as Stuani and Cavani both attempt to get on the end of the cross. Da Silva does enough to deny Stuani, but the loose ball falls into the six-yard box, but there is no player in a blue shirt waiting to tap it into the net.

SUBSTITUTION: Ortiz comes on in the midfield to replace the injured Ortigoza.

CHANCE! Rolan and Alvaro Pereira combine down the left flank once again as the left-back lifts a dangerous ball into the box. Stuani gets across Piri and heads towards the far corner, but his header drifts just wide of the target.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Cristian Rodriguez replaces Sanchez for La Celeste, while Derlis Gonzalez comes on for Bobadilla for Diaz's men.

YELLOW CARD! Ortiz goes into the book just four minutes into his time on the pitch as he flies in late on Alvaro Gonzalez.

Another injury for Los Guaranies as Barrios pulls up on the pitch as he tries to chase down Pereira at the back, and signals to the bench that he needs to be taken off.

SUBSTITUTION: Former Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz comes on for the injured Barrios.

YELLOW CARD! Coates is booked for colliding into Valdez as the forward tried to move past the Liverpool man.

YELLOW CARD! The game is becoming very scrappy and ill-disciplined now as Alvaro Pereira is yellow-carded for a poor challenge on Derlis Gonzalez.

CHANCE! Derlis Gonzalez lifts the ball into the box from the right and his delivery finds Bruno Valdez, who rises highest in the box, but his powerful header goes just wide of the target.

The tempo of the game has dropped off significantly in the last few minutes, it is practically at walking pace as the the energy levels of both sets of players seems to have been drained by the heat in La Serena.

YELLOW CARD! Yet another booking as Molinas gives the ball away for Paraguay and Rolan races clear to break on the final two defenders, but he is brought down by the midfielder, which results in a yellow card from referee Roberto Garcia Orozco.

Benitez has offered an outlet down the left for the past couple of minutes for Los Guaranies, but he has nothing to hit in the middle and is forced to check back and is then dispossessed by Maxi Pereira.

CHANCE! A huge chance for Stuani to fire his side ahead in the dying minutes of this game as latches on to a cross from Rodriguez inside the box. However, he can only guide his effort straight into the hands of Villar, who makes a comfortable. Either side of the keeper and that was a goal, and from nine yards the forward has to do better there.

Gonzalez lifts a free kick in from the right for La Celeste and Gimenez wins the header at the near post, but the ball arcs over everyone in the box and trickles behind for a goal kick without threatening the goal.

Good pressing down the right from Maxi Pereira sees Tabarez's men win a corner. The delivery from Gonzalez is poor and is cleared by the first defender, but Uruguay regroup down the right, but Gonzalez fails to watch the defensive line and is flagged offside. That just about sums this match up.

There will be three minutes of added time.

CHANCE! Paraguay almost win it as they break in numbers and Santa Cruz slides a pass into the feet of Derlis Gonzalez on the edge of the box. The winger takes a touch to get the ball out of his feet and drills a strike towards the bottom corner, but Muslera makes an excellent save to keep the effort out.

FULL-TIME: Uruguay 1-1 Paraguay

The referee brings an end to a pretty drab 90 minutes of action between Uruguay and Paraguay. Both sides earn a point from the fixture, which is enough to send La Celeste through to the knockout stages of the competition. Oscar Tabarez's men took the lead in the first half through Jose Gimenez with a fine headed effort, but Los Guaranies equalised just before the break as Lucas Barrios found the net with a close-range header. Both sides had chances to add to the scoreline, but Derlis Gonzalez was denied by Fernando Muslera, while Christian Stuani missed two good opportunities inside the penalty area.

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Be sure to stick with Sports Mole for coverage of the next Copa America match between Argentina and Jamaica which begins very shortly. But from me, it's goodbye.
