Andriy Voronin steps down from international duty

Voronin quits Ukraine duty

Andriy Voronin has joined Ukraine teammate Andriy Shevchenko in quitting the national team following the side's elimination from Euro 2012.

The tournament's co-hosts were knocked out of the elite competition following a 1-0 defeat to England in Donetsk last night.

"I am leaving the Ukraine team. I took this decision in advance [of the Euros]," Voronin told sport.ua. "I have chosen to focus on my club career [with Dynamo Moscow] because I am not young enough to combine both roles."

Meanwhile, Shevchenko confirmed his retirement from international football last night.
