DC United substitute Hamdi Salihi struck late on to give the Washington club victory over Toronto at the BMO Field.

The first opening of the game went the hosts' way as Luis Silva's shot was kept out by Bill Hamid.

Toronto continued to threaten the DC goal before the visitors ended the opening period the stronger.

The second half remained even until Salihi nipped in and tapped home from close range.
