Torino edge past Atalanta BC

Cesare Bovo ends Torino's six-game run without a win in Serie A by netting the winner against Atalanta BC.

Torino claimed their first victory in seven Serie A games by claiming a 1-0 win over Atalanta BC at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia this afternoon.

Fabio Quagliarella threatened in the opening minutes for the visitors with a stinging drive that was kept out by Marco Sportiello.

Sportiello was soon called into action again to save from Andrea Belotti's low strike from outside the box.

The crossbar then came to Atalanta's rescue at the end of the first half as Belotti placed his header onto the woodwork.

Torino finally made their pressure count seven minutes after the break, as Cesare Bovo connected with Belotti's corner and guided his effort beyond Sportiello.

It would prove to be the winning goal, as Torino held on to claim the points and move back into the top half of the Serie A table.
