Preview: Tenerife vs. Mallorca - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Copa del Rey clash between Tenerife and Mallorca, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

A place in the quarter-final of the Copa del Rey is up for grabs on Tuesday when Tenerife welcome Mallorca to Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez.

The home side saw off the threat of La Liga outfit Las Palmas in the round of 32, while their visitors got the better of lower league side Burgos CF.

Match preview

Tenerife secured safe passage into the last 16 of the Copa del Rey courtesy of a routine 2-0 triumph over Las Palmas on Sunday evening.

Asier Garitano's men all but got the job at half time after racing to an early lead thanks to goals from Jose Amo and Cruz Luismi 17 minutes apart.

Los Blanquiazules fell to a 1-0 defeat against Elche in their subsequent league outing and have dropped down to 12th in the La Liga 2 table as a result.

Coming up next is the challenge of an opposing side who are unbeaten in the most recent five editions of this fixture, winning four of them.

Off the back of seeing their three-game unbeaten run on home turf come to an end last time out, Tuesday's hosts will be keen to avoid back to back defeats in front of their fans for the first time in over a year.

Mallorca cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Burgos CF when the teams went head-to-head at Estadio El Plantio on Sunday afternoon.

Following a goalless opening period, second-half goals from Giovanni Gonzalez, Cyle Larin and Abdon Prats got the job done for Javier Aguirre's men.

This was followed by a 1-1 stalemate against Celta Vigo on Saturday, which saw Los Bermellones drop to 14th in the La Liga table with 19 points from 20 matches.

Having blown hot and cold away from home in recent weeks, Tuesday's visitors will be looking to put on a show for their travelling fans this time around.

Team News

Jose Amo was sent off in Tenerife's last cup outing, and the 25-year-old is ineligible to feature here as he serves a one-game suspension.

This should see Fernando Medrano make a return to the hosts' starting lineup, although Nikola Sipcic is also in contention to get the nod.

Cyle Larin has found the back of the net in both of his last two matches for Mallorca, making the Canada international one to keep an eye on here.

Matija Nastasic missed his side's draw against Celta Vigo through a knock, and it remains to be seen if the defender will be fit enough to play a part here.

Tenerife possible starting lineup:
Nadal; Nacho, Williams, Medrano, Mellot; Sanz, Bodiger; Luismi, Lopez, Teto; Rodriguez

Mallorca possible starting lineup:
Rajkovic; Lato, Copete, Raillo, Gonzalez, Maffeo; Sanchez, Morlanes, Costa, Rodrigues; Larin
