Cahill's Sunderland move falls through?

Sunderland's reported pursuit of former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill is said to have fallen through.

Recent speculation had claimed that Martin O'Neill was keen to add the New York Red Bulls midfielder to his squad on a loan basis while the MLS season was on a break.

However, a source has now told the New York Post that following a series of discussions, a move to Wearside for the Australian looks "unlikely".

The 33-year-old is also said to have drawn interest from Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers.
