Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has described new signings Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson as "excellent" acquisitions for the club.
Belgian defender Vertonghen completed a move from Ajax on Thursday while Icelandic playmaker Sigurdsson sealed his switch from Swansea City the day before.
Villas-Boas now believes that the duo will help Spurs push for major honours.
"[Vertonghen] is a player who leads by example, is very determined and with a great personality and also is one of the players who fits what we want to achieve in terms of style of play - which is part of Tottenham's tradition and part of the culture that I defend," he said.
"Gylfi is of course player who exploded last season with Swansea in the last six months. A player that had previously been in England so knew the environment, was given an opportunity with Swansea and impressed everybody.
"[The pair are] excellent signings to improve the squad so that we can push forward for what we want."
Spurs make the trip to Stevenage on Tuesday for a pre-season friendly before they fly out to the USA the following week to continue their preparations for the new Premier League campaign.
