Mauricio Pochettino rues Harry Kane misses following Arsenal defeat

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino admits that Harry Kane's goalscoring woes cost his side a spot in the fourth round of the League Cup following their Arsenal defeat.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has lamented Harry Kane's prolonged profligacy following Wednesday's 2-1 League Cup defeat by North London rivals Arsenal.

Kane, who netted 31 times for Spurs last term, fluffed two good chances in last night's third-round loss at White Hart Lane to ensure that the striker's goal drought extended to seven games this season.

"Harry had some chances to score tonight, he was a little bit unlucky again," he told Sky Sports News. "I think we had the best chances but in football, you need to score."

Mathieu Flamini was an unlikely hero as the defensive midfielder struck twice in both halves, either side of Calum Chambers's own goal, to help the Gunners reach the next round.

Kane will look to banish his goalscoring demons when top-of-the-table Manchester City visit the Lilywhites on Saturday afternoon.
