Mathieu Flamini double gives Arsenal win at Tottenham Hotspur

A double from Mathieu Flamini gives Arsenal a 2-1 win in the League Cup at Tottenham Hotspur, while Calum Chambers scores an own goal for the hosts.

Two goals from veteran midfielder Mathieu Flamini have given Arsenal a 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup this evening.

Arsenal winger Joel Campbell headed over the bar from a Kieran Gibbs cross, before Flamini opened the scoring on 26 minutes after pouncing on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's parried shot.

Tottenham missed two chances to equalise before the break, as Danny Rose dragged a right-footed shot narrowly wide, before Harry Kane saw a left-footed effort flash wide of goal.

After half time Spurs believed that they had scored, as Christian Eriksen hit the post before Kane turned the rebound in, but the linesman had flagged for offside.

The hosts found an equaliser on 56 minutes as Arsenal centre-back Calum Chambers deflected a Nacer Chadli cross into his own net.

Arsenal missed two chances to restore their lead soon after, as Aaron Ramsey fired wide following a good move, before Alexis Sanchez cut in from the left wing to test Spurs keeper Michel Vorm.

Olivier Giroud came close to putting Arsenal ahead on 71 minutes, as the French striker latched on to Ramsey's pass, but his effort was well saved by Vorm.

Flamini wrapped up the victory for Arsenal on 78 minutes, as the defensive midfielder beat Vorm with a 25-yard volley.

Spurs missed a chance to equalise before the final whistle, as Dele Alli forced a good save from David Ospina with a strike from outside the box.
