Martin O'Neill hints at staying on as Republic of Ireland boss

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill hints that he would like to extend his stint in the job beyond the Euro 2016 playoffs.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has suggested that he would like to remain in the job after his current contract ends.

The 63-year-old will lead his side into the playoffs for Euro 2016 this week with a two-legged tie against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The former Leicester City and Aston Villa manager signed a two-year deal upon his appointment in November 2013, which will come to an end once the qualification campaign for next summer's tournament in France is complete.

"I'm quite happy at this moment in time. It ends when the campaign ends," O'Neill told The Times.

"There are friendly games in March, I think, so it will be time to discuss things before those.

"If the FAI are happy with the progress, I think it is something they want. If the games against Bosnia don't go well, they might change their mind, but they have been very supportive."

Ireland face Bosnia away on Friday, with the second leg taking place in Dublin on Tuesday.
