Keane coy on Grealish international future

Roy Keane believes that the Republic of Ireland may be fighting a losing battle in trying to secure Jack Grealish's international loyalties.

The Birmingham-born midfielder made headlines last month after snubbing an Ireland call-up for Sunday's friendly with England and the Euro 2016 qualifier with Scotland next Saturday.

Keane, who is assistant to Boys in Green boss Martin O'Neill, briefly worked alongside the 19-year-old at Aston Villa last season.

When asked by The Guardian if their pursuit of him is a lost cause, he said: "He's obviously not made any official decision so we'll have to wait and see.

"Jack's a good kid. He was over at the FAI awards and he's faced with a difficult decision.

"I've got my own thoughts on what he's going to do. Let's wait and see."

Grealish made 17 Premier League appearances in his breakthrough season at Villa Park last term.
