Preview: Real Sociedad vs Levante - prediction, team news, lineups

Real Sociedad will be bidding to return to winning ways in Spain's top flight when they welcome struggling Levante to Reale Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The home side are currently seventh in the La Liga table, three points behind sixth-placed Celta Vigo, while Levante are 19th, three points behind 17th-placed Elche.

Real Sociedad have a record of 10 wins, eight draws and 11 defeats from their 29 league matches this season, with 38 points leaving them in seventh spot in the table, three points behind sixth-placed Celta Vigo in the battle to qualify for Europe.

The Basque outfit entered the March international break off the back of a 3-1 defeat to Villarreal, and they have only won one of their last three in La Liga - a home success over Osasuna in the middle of last month.

Pellegrino Matarazzo's side have picked up 24 points from their 14 home league matches this season, recording seven wins in the process.

Conceding goals has been a problem for La Real this term, shipping 45 in their 29 matches, which is the worst record in the top 14, and that has stopped them from advancing higher up the division.

A European spot would represent a successful campaign considering the team's early-season issues, though, and they will be confident of returning to winning ways this weekend.

Levante are currently battling for their lives towards the bottom of the division, with 26 points from 29 matches leaving them in 19th spot, three points behind 17th-placed Elche.

There is still more than enough time for the Frogs to pull themselves out of danger, and they are in strong form, having picked up eight points from their last four games, remaining unbeaten in the process.

Luis Castro's side were last in action on March 21, beating Real Oviedo 4-2, while they have also overcome Alaves, and drawn with Girona and Rayo Vallecano, in their last four games.

Levante have the second-worst home record in the division this season, but they have managed to pick up points in six of their 14 away league matches in 2025-26.

Earlier this season, the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse match, but it was 1-0 to Real Sociedad in the corresponding game during the 2021-22 season.

Team News

Real Sociedad will be without the services of Inaki Ruperez, Alvaro Odriozola, Yangel Herrera and Igor Zubeldia due to injury problems, while Jon Gorrotxategi faces a late fitness test.

Benat Turrientes will return after serving a suspension, while Takefusa Kubo is also available again after recovering from a muscular injury which has kept him out since the middle of January.

There are not expected to be any surprises in the Real Sociedad XI on Saturday, with their line once again set to be led by Spain international Mikel Oyarzabal.

As for Levante, Matias Moreno is available again after serving a suspension.

However, Roger Brugue remains on the sidelines through injury, while Unai Elgezabal is also a doubt for the relegation-threatened visitors.

Etta Eyong has not been in the starting XI since the start of February amid the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, and the Cameroon international is again likely to be named on the bench here, with Carlos Espi set to lead the line.
