Sami Khedira 'to run down Real Madrid contract, join Chelsea on a free transfer'

Khedira 'to sign for Chelsea on a free'

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira will run down his contract with the Spanish club before joining Chelsea on a free transfer, it has been reported.

Arsenal have been linked with the Germany anchorman, and were apparently willing to spend £24m to bring the World Cup winner to the Emirates Stadium until being put off by his wage demands.

However, the Daily Star has reported that the 27-year-old is keen to work with former Real manager Jose Mourinho once again, having already agreed to the switch because he has yet to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu.

Khedira has allegedly also been courted by Bayern Munich.
