Rafael Benitez cries at Madrid unveiling

An emotional Rafael Benitez was unveiled as the new head coach of Real Madrid this afternoon.

The 10-time European champions announced earlier today that the 55-year-old had agreed a three-year contract at the Bernabeu, where he has replaced Carlo Ancelotti.

The move has seen Benitez's career go full circle, having managed his boyhood club's B team for a short spell during the 1990s.

It is a scenario that has seemingly affected Benitez, who was visibly crying during his first press conference a short while ago.

"This is the hard part, having to speak but not really knowing what to say," he said.

"Madrid is my home. It's emotional to be back. I hope it goes well, that the team plays quality football and wins trophies."

The former Liverpool boss has most recently been in charge of Italian outfit Napoli, whom he guided to Coppa Italia success last year.
