Mourinho: 'Beckham should be in the Olympics'

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho believes that David Beckham should have been picked for the Team GB football squad at this summer's Olympics.

Beckham, 37, was omitted from the squad by boss Stuart Pearce, but Mourinho has admitted that he 'does not understand' the decision.

"There is something I don't understand. I know because I was also inside of that project - if now the Olympic Games are in London, it is because of him," Mourinho told reporters.

"It's because of Sebastian Coe and other people, but he was the most important face of that project. I don't understand why he's not playing. I cannot understand."

Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy side lost 5-1 to Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly on Thursday.
