PSG's Marco Verratti handed one-game ban for referee outburst

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has been handed a one-game domestic ban with another match suspended following his outburst towards the referee in last month's 3-1 defeat to Nantes.

Mauricio Pochettino's side fell to goals from Ludovic Blas, Randal Kolo Muani and Quentin Merlin at the Stade de la Beaujoire, with Neymar adding a consolation goal on February 19.

Following the encounter, Verratti claimed that PSG had been "s*** on" by the officials, while sporting director Leonardo also had some choice words for the referees.

There were fears that Verratti could have been suspended for up to five matches after the case was referred to the league's disciplinary commission, but the Italy international will only miss one game for the champions.

As a result, Verratti - who missed last weekend's 3-1 win over Saint-Etienne due to an accumulation of yellow cards - will not be available for the meeting with Bordeaux on March 13, with the sanction taking effect next Tuesday.

The 29-year-old has registered two goals and one assist in 15 Ligue 1 outings this season for PSG, who return to Ligue 1 action against Nice on Sunday.
