Relative of Paraguay hero Derlis Gonzalez dies after Brazil game

A relative of Derlis Gonzalez dies of a heart attack after watching Paraguay dump Brazil out of the Copa America.

Paraguay's Derlis Gonzalez has revealed that a relative died of a heart attack while celebrating their win over Brazil in the Copa America quarter-final on Saturday night.

Gonzalez struck the winning penalty as Paraguay knocked Brazil out of the tournament, clinching the shootout 4-3 after the match finished 1-1.

The striker's father confirmed to Ultima Hora that Irrazabal Manuel, whom they describe as Gonzalez's uncle, had died following the victory.

Gonzalez took to Twitter upon hearing the news, writing: "Why today uncle? Why? You left me after a heart attack because I gave you so much joy and so much happiness. I can't believe it."

Paraguay will face Argentina on Tuesday for a place in the final.
