Northern Ireland goalkeeper Maik Taylor believes that the volume of withdrawals is causing "resentment" within the squad.

Veteran Northern Ireland keeper Maik Taylor has admitted that the number of withdrawals from international squads is having a negative effect on the team.

The 40-year-old stopper believes that there is "resentment" within the squad after manager Nigel Worthington decided to step down following tonight's game with Italy.

"We all have to take responsibility in some way, but a huge amount of responsibility needs to go to those who don't even bother turning up," said Taylor.

"I sense there is a lot more resentment among the lads who do turn up and put their necks on the line for the country," he added.

Taylor also suggested he may follow Worthington by making tonight's match his last for his country.

"It's probably time to step aside and Campy (Lee Camp) has come in and done great," said Taylor.

Taylor is currently unattached after being released by Birmingham City in the summer.
