Newcastle United close in on Mathieu Debuchy

Newcastle United are understood to be closing in on Lille's French international full-back Mathieu Debuchy.

The Magpies recently had a £4m bid rejected for the 26-year-old following his impressive performances for Les Bleus at Euro 2012.

However, they could face competition from Italian giants Inter Milan for the defender, according to the Metro.

Debuchy signed professional terms with Lille in 2003 after a spell in their youth system.
