Alan Pardew urges Hatem Ben Arfa to prove his worth

Pardew: 'Ben Arfa will prove critics wrong'

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has called on Hatem Ben Arfa to prove his quality to all the doubters following his controversial stint with the France national team.

The 25-year-old was given a warning following a disciplinary hearing with the national side after getting into a dressing room scuffle with his teammates during Euro 2012.

"He's been very smiley still," Pardew told the Newcastle Chronicle. "These things can happen at international level.

"I don't think Hatem was too impressed with the experience he had there. Good - now show them how good you are with Newcastle."

Newcastle will begin their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Tottenham Hotspur on August 18.
