Tim Krul hopeful of swift appointment at Newcastle United

Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul wants the club to move quickly to find a permanent successor to Alan Pardew and reduce the disruption to the Magpies squad.

Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul is hopeful that the club will a quickly appoint Alan Pardew's successor at St James' Park.

Pardew left to join Crystal Palace last week following a four-year tenure with the club, leaving John Carver as caretaker manager of the Magpies.

Krul feels that the Newcastle hierarchy should appoint someone sooner rather than later to avoid disruption among the players, with Remi Garde among the names that have been linked with the post.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's never a good thing when you don't know what's happening, also for the fans as well – they want to know what's happening but maybe the club hasn't come to a decision yet.

"At the moment the only thing we can do is work our socks off on the training ground with John [Carver] and Steve Stone. We had a great game-plan today. We played really, really well and I think it was one of our best games of the season.

"Unfortunately it did not result in a win but the board just need to be clear if they have a manager out there who they think is the main man. Hopefully it is quick. If not then John and Steve, for me, are a great option as well."

Krul made his return from injury as the Magpies fell to a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
