Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has said that 2011 was the breakthrough year in his career so far.
The Dutch international has established himself as number one at St. James' Park with a string of impressive performances.
The 23-year-old has admitted that he is delighted with his displays for club and country and is hoping it will continue in the New Year.
"2011 was a breakthrough year for me," said Krul.
"I made my debut for my country, I have been playing for Newcastle week in, week out as number one this season and it has been an incredible change for me.
"This year I want to stay in the team at Newcastle and double the points that we have now and if I can go to the European Championships in the summer that would be amazing."
Krul has been at Newcastle since 2005 after joining from Den Haag.
