Hatem Ben Arfa will be leaving Newcastle United's pre-season tour of the USA early after sustaining an ankle injury.
The winger was stretchered off the pitch during the Magpies' 0-0 draw with Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night.
A club statement read: "[Ben Arfa] will be leaving the club's US tour tomorrow and the injury will be reassessed over the next 48 hours."
The 24-year-old had only just recovered from a double leg fracture suffered at Manchester City last October, which ruled him out for the majority of the season.
The French international initially moved from Marseille on a season-long loan deal which was made permanent in January.
