Newcastle United's Siem de Jong makes comeback from injury

Newcastle United's attacking midfielder Siem de Jong stepped up his recovery from a thigh problem by featuring in a friendly clash earlier today.

The summer signing from Ajax has been out of action ever since he suffered the complaint back in late August.

However, the 25-year-old has revealed that he is now closing in on a return following his 45-minute outing against Carlisle United.

The Magpies reportedly parted with £6m to secure the Dutch international's signature.
