Ian Baraclough: 'Motherwell perfect against Rangers'

Ian Baraclough hopes that a fight between Lee Erwin and Bilel Mohsni will not overshadow Motherwell's Scottish Premiership playoff victory over Rangers.

Motherwell manager Ian Baraclough has expressed hope that a fight involving Lee Erwin and Rangers defender Bilel Mohsni will not overshadow his team's Scottish Premiership playoff 6-1 aggregate win.

Marvin Johnson, Lionel Ainsworth and John Sutton scored to extend Motherwell's lead from the first leg and confirm their place in the Scottish Premiership next season, but Erwin and Mohsni were both sent off following an altercation after the final whistle.

"Everyone connected with us made sure these two games where the biggest of our lives. We executed our plan perfectly, took our chances and made sure we are in the top division," Baraclough told Sky Sports News.

"There were some unsavoury scenes and there is no place in football for that. You battle hard on the pitch and after the 90 minutes you shake hands and move on.

"If the back pages are full of two or three people brawling then that's the wrong message to send out for Scottish football."

Motherwell won five of their last 12 matches in the Scottish Premiership to avoid relegation.
