Report: Marcelo Bielsa held West Ham United talks

Ex-Marseille manager Marcelo Bielsa reportedly held talks with West Ham United this summer to become their new manager.

Marcelo Bielsa, who dramatically resigned as Marseille manager on Saturday night, had reportedly held discussions with West Ham United to become their new manager.

Sam Allardyce parted company with the Hammers at the end of last season and Bielsa, who was himself rumoured to be leaving OM after missing out on the Champions League last term, was linked with the role.

According to Canal +, officials at Marseille were aware that the Argentine coach had spoken to the Premier League outfit about succeeding Allardyce before they turned to Slaven Bilic.

However, it is also reported that Bielsa had demanded a €300,000 (£212,460) bonus from Les Olympiens to stay with the club, regardless of where they finished in Ligue 1 this season.

Bielsa resigned immediately after OM's 1-0 home defeat to Caen.
