Man United transfer news: Red Devils weighing up 'blockbuster move' for PSG superstar who could transform Ruben Amorim's team

Transformative signing: Man United weighing up 'blockbuster move' for PSG superstar

Manchester United are reportedly considering making a spectacular move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during this summer's transfer window.

Donnaruma was instrumental to PSG's success last season, and he is widely regarded as one of the best stoppers in world football, but his long-term future in Paris is in severe doubt.

The 26-year-old's existing deal with the French and European champions is due to expire next summer, and he is yet to come to an agreement with Luis Enrique's side over a fresh contract.

"My priority is to stay at PSG and sign a new deal. I don’t think there will be any problems in the negotiations," said Donnarumma last month when asked about his situation.

However, there is believed to be a chance that Donnarumma could leave, with Chelsea and Manchester City also thought to be keeping a close eye on the developments surrounding the Italy international.

Man United 'considering summer move' for PSG's Donnarumma

According to CaughtOffside, Man United have Donnarumma on their radar, with the Red Devils confident that they would be able to hand him the type of deal that would convince him to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Donnarumma allegedly wants a contract on the same terms at PSG, but Enrique's side are looking at an arrangement which would see up to a third of his wages being calculated based on how many games he has played.

If that occurs, his base salary would be reduced, and that is believed to be a problem for the Italian, who is now seriously considering leaving the European champions in search of pastures new.

Donnarumma has been with the capital giants since July 2021, and he has represented PSG on 161 occasions in all competitions, keeping 56 clean sheets in the process.

At AC Milan, Donnarumma made 251 appearances, keeping 88 clean sheets.

Donnarumma would be an outstanding signing for Man United

PSG will be desperate to keep hold of Donnarumma for obvious reasons, but if Man United could somehow pull off a deal for the Italian, then it could be a transformative signing for the club.

Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in world football, and he would be a serious upgrade on Andre Onana, who has struggled to show consistency during his two seasons in Manchester.

PSG are not in a strong position when it comes to Donnarumma, and they will not want to risk losing him on a free transfer, so a big-money departure this summer is becoming a serious possibility.
