Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 'Paul Pogba is currently unhappy at Manchester United'

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer concedes that Paul Pogba is currently 'unhappy' at the club.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that Paul Pogba is currently 'unhappy' at Old Trafford due to his struggle for performances.

The midfielder is no longer an automatic pick for the 20-time English champions, having found it difficult to show his best form in the early stages of the 2020-21 campaign.

Pogba put in two strong displays for France during the recent international break, which led to praise from Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps.

There have been suggestions that the World Cup winner could look to run down his contract with United before leaving on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, and Solskjaer has conceded that the 27-year-old is not currently content at club level.

"I spoke to Paul today about it. Of course he's not been happy when he's not playing, and not playing really well," The Mirror quotes Solskjaer as saying. "He's not been happy with his performances. He plays in the same position for France and he does for us, so that's not a different scenario.

"It's about getting momentum and rhythm and he felt really strong towards the end against Portugal and towards the end of the game with Sweden, which is natural because he had coronavirus and he needed time.

"That's the same with all of our players - they look stronger and fitter and he's the same. Paul has the qualities to do many things. It's about the balance of the team, that's on the 11 you pick that day, that's the key.

"Sometimes it's as a number eight, sometimes a number 10, sometimes in off the left in a diamond, sometimes one of the two, he can do everything. And now, the fitter he gets, the more he can do."

Pogba is still believed to be a transfer target for Juventus and Real Madrid.
